I just came back from a restaurant with my hubby. It was a bit of a dissapointment, but we'll live. I was amazed at the gall of those people- they included the gratuities in the bill, and made is seem like they hadn't (ie. they did not give the total without the gratuities). I had to go through the bill and add up everything (roughly) in my head, because- yes! I have some jewish blood in me, and I couldn't let this one slide. I swear this sort of thing is illegal. Gratuities are always voluntary! That's the way they should stay!
Normally, I'm a generous tipper. My sister's husband works as a waiter, so I understand that tips are a substantial part of a waiters income. But I don't like it when it's included in the bill. Especially when the bill is intentionally this confusing:
